Belly or back heat for hatchling rack?

    Hey everyone,
I'm getting ready to make a hatchling rack and I will be using Flexwatt. I was wondering what do most of you use, belly or back heat? And one more question, what temp. do you keep the hatchlings at (hot and cool side)?

    Thanks for your input,

    Dave

Belly heat for me. I made my hatchling rack as well. I laid the heat tape down and put a piece of metal roofing flashing over it to protect it from the tubs rubbing it. I taped the flashing down with foil tape. After 3 years it still looks as good as when I made it. I think the flashing may help to spread the heat out as well.

I'm making a DIY XPVC 50 hatchling rack and I will be using belly heat also. I tape carefully and leave minimal space and my racks are holding up great so far.

Re: Belly or back heat for hatchling rack?

Belly heat is what I was leaning towards, but just wasn't sure for hatchlings. I have two racks, one has belly and the other has back heat.
So, what about temps., same as adults?

    thanks,

    Dave

Same temps! Might try to keep humidity a tiny bit higher. I think that will help with first sheds and such. I got some hatchling SD Retics a little while ago with stuck shed and I've been keeping their humidity a bit higher than my ball rack. I had successful sheds last night. Same humidity isn't going to hurt them, just for sake of making things easier a little higher might be beneficial. I'll be keeping mine misted.

    Regards,

    B
