Luckily, I'm not using Miracle-Gro perlite like last year. Which I realized is probably exactly why I lost half of my eggs last year, including one that died in the same position I caught this one in. I had to shoo it away from drinking, I'm kinda worried it may be harmful, but also figure they probably drink water mixed with all kinds of other dirt and minerals in the wild all the time...and fresh out of the egg?
Also, they're from a Pewter x Cinny clutch of 5 eggs. Looks like I ended up with 2 definite Pewters, 2 others that could be Pewters or Cinnies at this point, and 1 Pastel. No Super Cinnies or Bullets. But I'm glad they're alive and look really nice for what they are. Last season was a bad one. Damn Miracle-Gro...I had no idea it had fertilizer in it. (Writen in very fine print.)

Its perfectly fine for them to drink the water from the substrate . mine do it ever clutch they come out and they need to drink so they dip down and get some , basically its distilled water so its safe . i have never had an issue arise from them drinking it .
I love it when people tell me, "You should think before you speak!" I'm like, "I did. It's what I think and I really don't give a crap what other people think."
