    Question regarding heat tape

So I was cleaning today and noticed that one of my tubs had a hole in it (melted). It was a brand new tub and the other tub that is on the same piece of heat tape is fine.

All my heat tape is controlled by a herpstat thermostat.

Any ideas why just that one tub would burn?

The tubs have little "legs" on the bottom so the tub doestn sit right on the tape..

Is it melted by the connection on the heat tape?

Nope its actually right about in the middle of the strip of heat tape. There is one strip on each shelf and each shelf holds two tubs. One tub was melted the other was fine.

It can & does happen from time to time, replace the heat tape asap. I always keep extra on hand for situations like this.
