Size of Rats or Mice?
Hello everyone. New to BP's and to this forum. I currently have two BP's and am trying to feed for the first time. My first BP is a female Pastel, she is around 22 inches long and weighs in at 175 grams. Second is a Male Normal that is around 18 inches long and weighs in at 130 grams. My question is, Should i feed Mice or Rats and what size for Pastel and what size for Normal? If possible the weight range in grams would also be helpful. Thank You.

Easily adult mice or rat pups.
For balls up to 500 grams or so you can feed prey that is 10-15% their weight.

Re: Size of Rats or Mice?
So, is it best in the long term to feed Rats? If so, why? Are Rats more nutritious? In your opinion, where's the "Best" place to purchase F/T, online?

Feed them weaner rats about 20g, then increase the size as needed 10-15% of your snakes weight.
You could try rodentpro.com to order online, I raise my own feeders, so I really don't know the best place, maybe someone else will chime in for that.

Rats IMO are better. In my experience they grow faster and seen to keep them full longer. Here are the actual nutritional facts on feeder prey though if you want to look through it.

I don't buy f/t online, I pick them up at shows I go to (no shipping!) and you can generally find a breeder in your area on craigslist, it's a lot cheaper than buying online depending on where you live. Sorry I can't help you with the online thing, I have just never bought online.

Re: Size of Rats or Mice?
I asked this same question a while ago First feed rats if at all possible you will need to feed many mice once the snake grows so it is easier in the long run I made the mistake of feeding mice and I ran into some issues while trying to switch back to rats I would feed rat pups good luck on the little ones

Full grown adult mice might be slightly big for a BP that size, they are typically about 25+g, and their hips get pretty wide.. But as everyone has mentioned, if you can start on rats now, its always much easier both for your snake and yourself.
