Question about "back" heated 15qt rack

    Hi everyone,

I picked up an old Reptile Basics double stack tall 15 qt rack for Juvi's, hatchlings. The way it is designed is it is 18 or so slots tall and has an 11" or 12" flexwatt strip going up the whole back wall of the rack. Just curious, should I just shoot my hot spot temps on the back side of the tubs (the side that rests up against the Flex)?

Basically if I shoot the back of the tubs and it reads 90-92 deg's am I good to go? That leaves my ambient temps on the front side at anywhere between 79 to 83 degrees. I just didn't know if I should reduce the hot spot since it is such a small tub and the animal doesnt have as much of a "cool" side to get to.

hopefully this makes sense.. I just have always been used to shooting the belly hot spot and going from there. Just didn't know if I should increase the heat until the floor of the tub is as hot as a belly hot spot would be, which would leave the back wall of the tub at a much hotter degree. Thanks so much for any input once again!!

I have some 15qt with lids in my 32qt rack with back heat, they do just fine. Your temps seem ok to me

Thanks guys.. I knew I was prob good to go. I swear Im a natzi when it comes to my temps. I check them like 3 times a day in all 3 racks. I think its because I haven't been able to afford a kick ass therm yet. Still using 3 cheaper ones. Soon.. soon I will not have to worry.
