If its a mesh top aquarium, put a towel over 1/2 or 3/4 of the screen top and check back in 15 mins or so and see if it changes.

What kind of heat source is it? an undertank heater or a lamp? and whats the substrate?

40% isnt going to kill the BP overnight, you dont have to worry too much about the humidity being so low. this isnt quite an emergency

I agree, put a towel on top. You can also put a warm wet rag in the tank and just leave it. The water will evaporate and bump humidity up. Good luck

    Hi,

How are you measuring the humidity?

There are a couple fo things to watch out for - those little round stick on humidity gagues aren't very accurate, and some of the digital weatherstations only measure the humidity at the base unit.

I mention this because they do not always make this clear and if the unit it sitting outside the tank in the room while you are misting the tank you could fill it with water and it wouldn't change.

You've already got some great advice, but just to add a couple ideas. You could get a larger water dish and put it on the warm side, that will help bump up the humidity. Make sure that if the top of the tank is open-a mesh lid, that you cover it with a towel or plastic wrap. Just make sure that if you are use a heat lamp that you don't start a fire. Heat lamps are going to lower the humidity no matter what.
