That's an adult right there. You should see fresh born babies. Talk about tiny....
I produced a few litters as a kid and had to cut worms into small pieces to feed them. I don't think I have ever seen a smaller snake in my life.

That would be the Eastern Brown Snake.
"Brown Snake" is a name commonly given to several different species, one being of the colubrid family in North America and sometimes Mexico.
As far as I understand..
I may be corrected if I am wrong.
EDIT: Also, I am not good at identifying native snakes in North America, so I'm not agreeing that what the OP found is actually a Brown Snake of the genus Storeria.. I'll leave the identifying to others.

Thank you, Garweft! Yeeeah, I figured it was probably an adult after reading up on them a little...it's just so hard to not view them as babies!! hehehe. Such cuties.
And thanks everyone! I would love to keep one someday, lol. Right now I'm actually headed to Topeka, KS to catch some Italian Wall Lizards. I'm so excited!!
