Constrict but not eating

So I have some problems with one of my BPs. He is eating F/T, constricts it but won't eat it. This is my third time feeding him at my place (just got him like 4 weeks ago) but this time he just leaves it. He likes to chew it a little before too. Right now he is eating big mouse. Should I put him back in his cage and try next week?

If they drop it make sure its warm enough and reoffer

Definitely make sure it's warm enough, mine killed the rat 3 times before finally eating it.

I am sure it is warm enough, and I tried to offer it to him again, but he just wants to get out from the tub. I will try next week again. Hopefully he will eat it. Thumbs up for your answers (:

Are you feeding inside or outside its enclosure?

I'd feed him in his own enclosure, let him do his thing, and leave the rat in the cage overnight if he doesn't eat it. I have one that does the SAME thing and I'd get frustrated and take the rat out. Well one night I said F it and left the rat in overnight and it was gone by morning. Sometimes they just like to take their time, and not be watched. If you feed f/t there is no danger, so it's usually a win/win. Good luck

I always feed my snakes in another tub, and they have sort of learned what is going on when I put them there. So should I feed them in their own tubs (I have a rack system) where they live? Becuase alot of people tells me that they can by mistake replace your hand for their food if they get used to be fed in their tubs. I don't know if this is true though, but I am pretty used to pick them out during feeding time.

Can I solve this problem by feeding them in their own cages? If so, is it "safe" to feed them that way?

Yeah, as long as you don't smell like rat I've had no problems feeding in the same enclosure. Some people have issues when they feed live because they move and could mistake your moving hand for a rat I suppose, but I've heard cage aggression is a myth anyways. I feed mine in a rack system in their homes without issue...none of mine have ever bit me.

I feed all of mine in their enclosures. I feed mine later in the evening and once all of the snakes have their rats, I just turn off the lights and go to bed, then I check the next morning. If anyone didn't eat, I just discard the rat and wait till next feeding day...

i know this is an old post but im realizing Bp are a piece of work for the last 3 months i had No problems with feeding this last week my BP did not want to eat which i understand just not hungry today she striked and released the rat was outside of her hide she did that before once i put the rat inside her hide she started to eat i think is does not like for me to be watching this time i put the rat just outside the hide and left the room i entered 10 minutes later and she was eating it so now i know to leave the room as soon as she strikes i gave her a rat pup this time she normally eats weaned rats but i did not know she was going to eat so why waste a weaned rat if shes hungry she will let me know in a couple days.so if any Bp are striking and leaving the prey is because they don't like being watched or the food is not warm enough,also i don't know about any other BP but mine is a juvenile around 6 months old weighing at 250g she likes to do everything in the hide sheds,poops and eats shes got 2 cold side warm side i have to inspect the hides periodically to make sure is free of feces.corn snake in the other hand she enjoys me taking her out her enclosure and feed her she has not missed a feed since i got her shes like 9 months old now she eats 8 grams of mouse a week 1 big fuzzie and a small fuzzie once they are gone ill try a hopper she weighs at 62g now.is an experience with BP i tell you.
