Talking Best Way to Pull A Female From Her Eggs?

Haven't posted in quite a while, might as well ask a Q!... Today is exactly a month from her post-ov/pre-lay shed. It feels like it literally took much longer than that! Yesterday before leaving to my dad's place I checked up on her to find her in a very exciting position! In about an hour or so I'll be back at my mom's house to check up on her for eggs. Pictures will be posted immediately on this thread after I find the nice surprise whether it be today or in the next couple days so stay posted!

As this is indeed my first clutch, I still have to learn how to pull a female from her eggs. Any videos or even a nice description on how to do so will help me by so much. I've seen plenty of videos but plenty just might not be enough!

    Here's Candice in post-ov/pre-lay shed.

    Picture taken yesterday!

This is my first BP and my wittle baby . I never had the thought or intention of breeding Ball pythons up until I joined this forum. I thank you all so much who've helped me out on anything the past nearly 2 years being on the forum, and to say the least I probably wouldn't know jack poop about Ball pythons.

I'm pretty sure I've run across a video on youtube, but I just put a towel over my girls head and then just used the one hand to support and lift her while using the other hand to uncoil her.

    Congrats !!

Pretty much any method other than "just reach in" is probably OK. I use a roll of paper towels. I have had a couple strike at it but usually they just move their head away. Once you have a hold of them about 6 inches or so behind the head, I just lift/uncoil them off the eggs.

A perfectly mild mannered snake can often get pretty hissy the day before laying and up to a few days afterwards.

Bare handed straight towards her head...usually a little bump on the side of the body to get her out of kill mode and they come right off.

I agree. I just gently touch them on the side and pick them up. I find most will put on a show but don't bite. I don't throw towels or use anything else to poke them only because I don't want to scare them or stress them more than I have to.

I tap mine on the head with either a roll of paper towels or tongs. Once you get them out of the protect mode they are fine.

Same here, just a gentle touch on their side tends to throw them out of protection mode and then you just grab her neck and midsection and lift making sure the tail doesn't try to hold on to the pile of eggs as you lift(my first female did this)
