Reptile Dysfunction
oral medice
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys, today i went to the vet and they gave me an oral perscripstion for batril for an RI in my Ball Python and after i give it to my snake every day for 10 days he freaks out and raises his head and opens it idk is this the norm i was pleased because they gave me a free x-ray for the fun of looking at it
the vet said to squirt the 1ml of batril into its mouth and that it just open it and squirt
no feeding tube is this vet dumb or is this correct
i paid 20 dollers for the antibiotics thanks

I think if you aren't going to go down the throat with oral meds, I'd inject a little at a time otherwise it'll come out their nose.

Re: oral medice
I had the same thing prescribed for my girl's RI, and I had my bf hold her while I got the syringe into her mouth. Then, slowly but steadily, I pushed the plunger down until it was all gone. She did bubble some of it out of her mouth and one time she snorted a little bit out of her nose but every time she'd keep "yawning" and tilting her head up for a couple minutes. It's normal, they don't much like having liquid forced down their throats, much less having something forced into their mouth in the beginning.
