black around California Kingsnake scakes
Hello,
I am new to this forum and just had a couple of questions about my California kingsnake, which I have had for some time now. For background info, I keep him in a 40 gallon breeder with a ceramic heat lamp at one end with a dimmer. The temps stay around high 80's for warm side to 70's on the cool side. I have 2 hides and have him on aspen bedding. Anyways, I have noticed that there seems to be a bit of black around some of his white scales (only on his back, not his belly), I feared that this was an external parasite of sorts so I brought him to my exotic animals vet he said that it wasn't anything to worry about but gave me an an anti bacterial (not sure which exactly, said chlorhexidine flush on the bottle) I applied it on the affected areas regularly and it didn't seem to have an affect. The vet did say not to be concerned by it, but I just want to be sure by posting some pictures to see what you guys think, also I have a picture of what looks like a small scratch (could be from rock I had in there to help him shed) and I just wanted to see if it was anything more than that as well. Sorry for the stupid long post, I just wanted to cover the all bases. I would appreciate any and all input

Looks like it may just be some black coloration coming through in those areas. Really would like some better pics though.

lol, you and me both, unfortunately I can barely use a camera and creating a photobucket account was a struggle in it of it self (I live under a rock, a very nice one at that), I was thinking it was just part of the coloring as well, but when I compared it to other pictures I have seen on line it didn't look right. either way, thank you for your imput

It's just normal CalKing stuff. No worries.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

Thank you very much for the reassuring replies , I was pretty sure it was nothing, but I just wanted to be sure. And I just realized I misspelled scales on my thread title...fantastic
