so my bp is acting weird..

ok so my bp is acting really weird lately. she keeps trying to get out of her cage. i looked at the temps and the humidity and they are both fine. idk if its normal or not. she keeps trying to climb right up to side of the tank.

Is this at night? If so that's normal.... if not..then she's stressed.

I know I've answered on your threads before and have seen people (including myself) give very helpful suggestions, but if I had to guess....if she's doing this during the day...you haven't changed anything.

she has been doing it during the day and ur advice (and everyone elses) have been very helpful. and i thank you for it. but i have done everything u said i even got her to eat last night this just started a couple days ago and i figured it was because she was ready to eat but she is still doin it.



and since im new to all this i am just trying to get everything right i love my bp to death and i definatly dont want to do anything stupid to hurt her.

Alright from what I can tell, that is a huge tank for a little ball python. Is that a 40 gallon? I wouldn't go any bigger than a 20 gallon long for them, as the side open spaces stress them out. The lights are enough to stress her out too, the are unnecessary and suck out humidity. Since you have a UTH and thermostat (I think...if I recall correctly?) you don't need the lamps, and you should cover about 1/2 to 2/3 of the screen top with anything from aluminum foil to plexi glass to hold in humidity. Other than that, you can try crumpling up newspaper and just throwing it on top of her so she doesn't feel so wide open. In my experience the lights have more cons than pros. Good luck, try the newspaper thing until you can adjust the husbandry and hopefully she relaxes a little.

I agree with LGray. I would also cover the sides and back of the tank with black construction paper or shelving paper or something similar to make it feel more enclosed. That with the crumpled newspaper inside should help. You could also use fake plants or a few more hides instead of the paper.

Also double and triple check both your ambient temps and your hot spot. Ella did this last year in her 20gal long and I discovered that the ambient temps were too warm for her. She had gotten big enough (she's a fully mature female now) that she couldn't properly thermoregulate in that enclosure anymore. I switched her to a 40gal breeder and bought 2 hides from Reptile Basics and she's good to go now. Obviously, that isn't the problem for your little one, but sometimes things can appear just right but not be. Triple check and think about things from your snake's point of view.
