Deff Getting a Hog island boa now.

Hey guys, well Ive gone back and forth on getting a new snake from carpet pythons to blood. And I keep coming back to boas even hogs at one point, but I knew I couldnt handle a full grown rtb but after seeing all these albino boas(LGrays especially) I am really set on a hog island. Theyre the perfect size for me and I love those colors. Im still looking around right now but I dont plan on buying one from Vince Russo. So I just thought Id let you guys know as Im def set on getting one now. Also, length is the big thing for me but I wanted to know what an adult hog island is going to weigh? Thanks.

Haha awww congrats on the decision, glad my little guy was a good deciding factor. I just love boas and will want more some day, but I'm happy with my boy right now and all my ball pythons. I'll be expecting pictures when you finally get him/her!

What's wrong with Vin Russo? Also, I think weight is at least as much of a concern as length.

Re: Deff Getting a Hog island boa now.

I've always heard Vin Russo was one of the good guys, and one of the best sources around for boas. I've been looking for a Hog Island for a couple months and a couple names always come up. Vin Russo, Gus @ www.riobravoreptiles.com and Paul Mitchell @ www.pmherps.com. I have emailed with Paul a few times over the past month and am planning to pick up a boa from him at the Hamburg, PA show in a couple weeks...

Yes Those three names came up when I started looking to. But I contacted Vince first and he basically told me, I cant sell a snake to you if you want your parents to contact me ok, but didnt even answer my questions. And I agree weight is a concern but Ive seen adult hog islands and they cant weigh enough to be a problem. And Im thinking about a month from now. I have a cruise with all the family, and then plan on getting everything in order. Ill post pics.

A lot of breeders won't sell to minors for legal reasons. I doubt it's anything personal.

+1... I'm sure you're likely to run into that same response with a lot of breeders. If your parents are ok with you getting one, then just have them ok it with the breeder. If not, then you should probably wait anyway...
