    Rodent Pro - Excellent!

I just received my first shipment from Rodent Pro and I couldn't be happier! I got enough food for my collection to last me two months. I was provided a tracking number and tracked it all the way to this morning when it was on the truck for delivery. The box arrived just now. I opened it immediately and was very pleased to find it had two layers of thick insulation and a giant bag of dry ice. Not a single rat or mouse was even slightly thawing. Everything was frozen solid and in addition to this, the rats and mice were not frozen together, so when you go to pull prey items out of the bags, they don't rip each other apart.

I will definitely be purchasing from them again and again.
    Under Construction.....

I've been using their frozen rats for a couple of months now. The snakes love them.

I'm placing an order with them sometime next week. It's not too pricey as long as you can order in bulk and fill the shipping box. My order comes out to approximately $1.13 per rat (including shipping costs)...which is a far cry from the $3-$4 per rat they charge at a local pet shop.

Yeah, the shipping/packaging costs are why it's not practical to buy just one bag. But buying those individual f/t rodents from Petco with 10% sales tax here really adds up. You can probably get a year's worth for under $100 on RodentPro depending on what you are feeding.

    Re: Rodent Pro - Excellent!

i am looking into switching from live to frozen, and I was wondering how much freezer space is needed for a shipment that fills the shipping box? How long do these rodents last in the freezer? Are there any other considerations involved with storing or using F/T in bulk?

I've never gotten them shipped to me, so I don't know. I pick mine up at the reptile sale.

The best I can describe is that a bag of 25 rat weans takes up about the same space in the freezer as 2 half gallon ice cream boxes. I know this because I share a freezer with the snakes and the possum, and some folks don't like to see their food when they're getting ice cubes, and that is what I hide it behind.

Rodentpro used to have a chart that told you how much each item took up in the box in way of percentages. 100 pinky mice takes up about the size of a 12 oz bag of brussel sprouts. (not their measure, but mine)

Hey, we each use our own relevant standards of measure....

I used to use ROdent Pro when I had 50+ snakes....bought a small chest freezer. Never once had a problem with their products or their service. And when my collection grows large enough, I will use them again.
