Smile Radiant Heat Panel Question, very important!

So I am setting up my tub(36x16x12) today to put my blood in it, yes I know not a ball python, but I needed quick answers and that forum can be slow .

I have the heat panel inside the tub attached to the lid on the right side of the cage. The heat panel is hooked up to my Ranco Thermostat. I have the thermostat probe inside the tub on the warm side under the newspaper(my substrate) where the blood likes to lay. Then I have an Accurite thermometer with a probe, the probe on the warm side, the accurite device on the cool side to get warm and cool side temps.

Alright so, the thermostat is set to 94, and my warm side is 83 and my cool side is 81. My thermostat reads that it is 82 degrees where the probe is so that matches up. But and here comes my question, should the thermostat probe be on the Radiant heat panel? Because the thermostat is set at 94, will it continue to stay on until it tries to reach 94 where the probe is? It's been set up for an hour or so and the temps seem to stay pretty steady.

Sorry for all the questions, RHP's are just very new to me, this is my first one!

    Thank you soo much,
    Sara

We dont have to know what species of snake...

I would put the probe on the surface that the snake is gonna be on, it doesn't matter what your RHP temp is.

I didn't want someone to think I was keeping my ball only at 83 degrees

I have it where he would be laying because I assumed that would be the right place...I guess I just need to fiddle with my thermostat, because I think with it being set at 94, it will stay on until that area reaches 94, so I'm going to mess with it some more...

    *Update*

I tried setting it up again tonight.
I couldn't seem to get the temps correct with the thermostat probe on the ground where my Blood will be. So I have the probe a couple inches away from the RHP.

My thermostat is set to 90F, and my temps don't seem to be getting high enough. About 4-5 inches off the ground it is 90, but floor temps are 78-79.

Is it okay if the thermostat is set higher to achieve higher ambient temps for my Blood?

How are your RHP's set up for your bloods if you use them?

    Thank you!
