    Hey everyone,

i just got a new UTH and i was wonderin the best place to put it. i read the directions and they say they reccomend putting it on the side, but i dont really understand how that works all that well. i was going to put it on the bottom but im afraid my girl will dig and burn herself :/ what are some of your suggestions? i have it on the side of the tank like the directions said now but idk if its workin that well.

You put it under the tank, on the bottom. The probe to the thermostat gets taped directly to the UTH, not inside the tank. They get VERY hot, that's how it works, which is why you need thermostat with it.

Your snake won't get burned if you place it on the bottom and hook it up to a thermostat to control the temperature.
I wouldn't hook it up until you get a thermostat.

Hey I've been wondering about this for quite a while, I know its really best to put it outside the tank between the glass and UTH, but I've never found a way to get it right. The probe for my thermostat's about 1cm diameter, and my UTH wont stick properly with it in between. And I'm paranoid about bending the UTH.

Right now i have it inside the tank on the glass floor, under a big plastic sheet, then 1 sheet of newspaper, then the aspen. Just so that I give it no chance of losing temperature from piss or poop or getting wet.

Probe goes between the glass and UTH, I use aluminum tape to hold my UTH where ever I need them

You can get little stick on pads to put under your tanks to raise it up enough to accomodate the UTH. They sell them to put on the bottom of knick knacks to keep them from scratching up surfaces. I've seen them at Walmarts and Kmarts.
