    Want to introduce myself!

Greetings everyone! I am a new member who has been using this site regularly since I discovered it and I thought it was due time to make an introduction.

A little about me; I am a biology student at MU, I plan on attending FSU for a graduate degree in zoology. I have kept herpetofauna my entire life (coming from a family of field scientists and ecological enthusiasts.) I am very proud of my captive collection but my true passion is being out in the field & observing animals as they naturally occur.

    A little about my collection;
*everything I own has been captive bred. My family and I posses all the proper permits for owning and breeding these animals. I have firm, ethical disagreement pertaining to the collection of wild animals.

Okay, now that that's out of the way - heres my collection.

I started with turtles (4th grade) and they will probably always be my favorite.
    1.2 spotted turtles (breeding colony)
    0.1 snapping turtle
    0.1 giant leaf turtle
    0.1 midland painted turtle
1.0 NA wood turtle (lives in my garden)
    0.1 CA wood turtle (rescue)

This past year, after years of admiration, I decided to get into ball pythons.

1.2 100% het pieds (wish me luck!)
    1.0 Lesser
    0.1 Mojave
    0.1 Lemon Pastel
    0.2 Normal

Also have 1 unsexed alligator and countless house geckos that free roam in the reptile room (they keep the escaped crickets to a minimum.)

Attached are pics of my "green room" as well as some of the animals.

FINAL NOTE: I AM HERE TO LEARN!! THANKS!

    Re: Want to introduce myself!

Sweet room!!! I would love to have a peaceful haven like that to watch my animals. I love all the turtles. Turtles was my first reptiles and I love them although I don't have any currently. They take so much more time than the ball pythons do and a lot more space. I have had red ear sliders, and a box turtle when I was a kid. I have really looked at the Russian or Herman but I have decided to wait. Sulcata are awesome but since I live in Kentucky and outdoor housing is not an option year round, and I have hard wood floors, I decided it was probably best not to own one.

What are your plans for when the alligator gets big? It is really cute right now though and I bet it is fun to watch.

    thank you everyone!

the turtles are the most enjoyable to watch, they show signs of having the highest intelligence of all of my reptiles, and there is nothing quite like coming home to an incubator filled with little turtles

When the alligator gets larger he will be released at my uncles farm in south western Florida.

and I am very proud of my plant collection, thanks for the kind words.
