hey guys im out of frozen rats for a month till i go to the reptile show.
what should i do cause i can only get live should i feed prekilled or kill the rat then freeze it then feed it thanks

You dont have a petstore around that you can get frozen from? Most of the time you have to ask for them and they keep them in back otherwise you wouldnt know they kept them in stock. I would call around and see.
Even the big box stores have frozen rodents (petco, petsmart)

If you cant find any frozen then yes pre killed would be best IMO.
How large of prey are you feeding the snake?
You can make a Co2 gas chamber or use dry ice, theres plently of info on a DIY gas chamber online.
Or what I usually do....please note this is GRAPHIC...
If you can stomach it, I just double plastic bag the live rodent and smash them on the kitchen floor. Instant death and it is not messy. Just make sure you do it hard enough the first time or the poor thing will not be dead yet. Sorry if thats graphic to some people but Id rather die quick in that way rather then put in a freezer, but thats just me.

I'm all for feeding snakes and all...but that's harsh. You rescue a piggie...take in someone's free pet...then use it as food?

what are you talking about did you read this on another fourm what the hell is the matter with you,did you just tll me to feed other people free pets off to my snakes holy id recomend seeing a shrink before you end up in jail with that sick mind!

He edited the ugly part out. I understand that's nature's way, and that RTB's and other large snakes need to eat large prey, even guinea pigs. but 'rescuing' someone's pet, telling them you'll take care of it, and they give it to you, and turning around and using it as a food source is incredibly dishonest, and just...just wrong. There are plenty of options other than that. That's just the cheap, slimy way.

What is THAT supposed to mean? Okay, no, I'm not walking away. I've had a week from hell, and I feel like getting angry at some random idiot on the internet!

YOU SIR wrote, in your post, that you rescue guinea pigs for free and feed them to your RTB. THEN you edited it out before anybody but ME could see it!

I SAID THAT SEEMS DISHONEST AND WRONG.
