    Limax maximus eating a strawberry

Here is a limax maximus (great gray slug, leopard slug, etc.) I found in my backyard eating a strawberry I gave him. He's a really cute little guy, and he loved the strawberry!
I'll keep him for observation for a day or two and put him back in the exact spot where I found him (I marked it).

    Enjoy!

FYI, I just learned some slug anatomy:
His eyes are at the ends of the longer "antenna" on his head.
His sensory organs are at the end of the shorter "antenna", just beneath the longer ones.
The hole in his right side is his respiratory cavity, his anus is just under his "shell" (right behind his head), and his mouth has hundreds of little tooth-like things inside to help him eat.
He is an omnivore, and thus will eat decaying plants or animals (carrion). He's pretty cool!
And he can move at top speeds of up to 6 inches per minute, which is what helps him hunt other slugs.

He's really liking that strawberry! My parents are around Gold Beach oregon and they get the really big banana slugs. Can't keep them from the strawberries for anything. Fun show and tell

He was still munching on it about 5 mins after the video--he really, really seems to like it. We don't grow strawberries, so I bet he's never tasted one before and was like "OMG SO DELICIOUS". Wait till he finds out I have more for him.

I'm thinking either slugs or spiders, man! I've fallen in love with "weird" pets lately...Don't know why, but they're awesome. When I was younger I was so afraid of "bugs" that I never stopped to look at them--now I walk outside and I can't believe how much stuff I missed. You barely have to look at all!

    Slugs for the win!
my first morph shall be a banana pinstripe slug. lol
