    Found these 2 field herping

A feisty little fox snake and a garter. There was a huge fat female garter under the log with this little guy but I left her alone. She looks ready to give birth any day now.

Awesome! Our local herp group is supposed to start doing some field herping soon, and I sure hope we do as well as you did! Nice finds!

    Awesome!

I've never seen a fox snake.

    I don't think they're native in my area/Louisiana.

Very Nice. LOL I haven't done field herping since I was a kid. Back then we used to call it "catching snakes".

I plan to go out more often now that I found a friend nearby that goes different places every week. I'll have some ring necks soon too hopefully a glass lizard if I'm lucky. Were also looking for the elusive green snakes and black racers out here.

my field herping as a kid was called "catching lizards". my dad was always on the look out for any snakes i might've tried to pick up.
i was the one they sent to get the lizards back outside whenever they found their way into the house or in my dad screened back porch. we had some kind of shiny colorful lizards and a whole lot of horned toads.

    my current collection
    1.2 kiddos
    1.0 better half
    0.1 mojave ball python (Nyx)
    0.1 Dumerils Boa (Hemera)
    1.0 Eastern Box turtle
3.4.? rats (? = litter coming any day now)
    0.1 dutch rabbit (Lucy)

    my "future hopefuls"
0.0.1 pied cockatiel 0.0.1 white bellied caique 0.0.2 guinea pigs
