Aspergers Syndrome and Snakes- Pic Heavy

My 10 year old son was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome about a year ago. It has been recommended that children with Aspergers have a pet they can bond to, so since then we have been looking for an appropriate pet for him. About a month ago he asked for a snake of his own. So for his birthday that is exactly what he got. It is a perfect match. The cinnamon BP is moody to me but seems very at ease with him. Below are some pictures I took today of them.

My son is also thought to have Aspergers. We were also told to find him a pet that he could bond with. We let him pick a rat..... I have often thought something like a snake or lizard would be better seeing how the dogs want to get the rat each time he gets it out. Here lately he has asked me a few times to promise not to feed his rat to my snakes. LOL....which of course I would never do. Very cute pics!!

    that's really touching!
Snakes make excellent pets for so many reasons. It's great that your son has a rapport with the snake. If only every parent could be that cool!
Ride the snake, ride the snake/ To the lake, the ancient lake, baby/ The snake is long, seven miles/ Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold... (The End, The Doors)

That's so cool! I've worked with kids who have Aspergers and Autism - some of the best moments in my life! He looks like he really enjoys having a pet snake in pictures 2 and 4.

Yea my other son picked out a baby rat in the past few weeks out of my breeding colony. Named the thing Herman. LOL I have to say they are very cute together also.

I also took one of the photos and used a filter on it. I really think it turned out cool. I love the way his eyes look in this.

Re: Aspergers Syndrome and Snakes- Pic Heavy

Hey just wanted to say thanks for sharing your story with us. My nephew who just turned 10 yesterday was diagnosed with Aspbergers Syndrome and now I get to tell my sister that she needs to get him (and his brothers) a pet if they haven't already because it will help him! The boys have been asking for a pet for years. He loved my pets when I was living close by them, so I can see how having a pet helps! Great to know theres a new snake in your family! Have fun with your cinni!
I am new to this whole thing of keeping my awesome Snake Loki & their bro Chin.
    My rescues:

0.0.1 Normal Ball Python - (Loki)

1.0 Chin Chin Pu PimpChillia- Chincillia Standard (RIP 3/30/2011)

    My QT:
