Dual Survivor in the Everglades - grilled Burmese Python...
Have you seen Dual Survivor last Friday? It's on Discovery Channel.
The 2 survival experts got themselves stuck in the Everglades for 3 days... and it just so happened they found the trail of a Burmese Python that they followed to a nearby tree... and the Burmese python just happened to be climbing the tree in the middle of the day... The guy, of course, nabbed the python, lopped its head off and grilled the meat for eating.
Man, that was disturbing. Nothing against eating burmese python for survival but looking at the show, there was no way they just "happened to find" that burmese python climbing that tree in the middle of the day! So yeah, burmese python eaten for the sake of a TV show. I don't know how I feel about that. Coz, yeah, burmese pythons are open season for hunters in Florida anyway.
It's a hard life being a snake lover...

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

No i dont have problem with that at all.. This is Invasive species there same as feral hogs for example.. i love pork and I dont have issues eat wild hog.. as Burmese Python... I really wonder how it taste...
Bigger issue i had when Bear Grylls chopped off Boa head on front of camera in Costa Rica I believe.. . Because that was Animal what belongs there... Still In Survival Situation... I'll have no problem do same thing...

I understand your point and I agree 100%. It was just the eekiness of knowing that the Burmese python wasn't really hunted... It was planted. Make sense?

Something I read a while back about being advised not to consume Everglades Burmese python meat due to high mercury content comes to mind...

I really didn't have a problem with it, other than Dave saying all the time "this is an extremely DANGEROUS snake! He's treating it like its a Black Mamba. It wasn't even a big brumese either.

ditto, i dont have a problem with the act itself so much, but i'm always a little skeptical about the reality of these shows. i would be bothered if it was just planted there for the purposes of the show.

I love snakes and to me they are more than pets but in a survival situation I would do the same, now weather on not that snake was planted there I have no idea so therefore I can't argue with that.
