    Any cyclists here?

I've gotten into cycling in the past few weeks to try to get my fat butt back into shape. I'm up to about 150 miles per week so hopefully I'll see the pounds start coming off soon. I've been considering going in the direction of triathlons too. Anybody else here ride? If so lets see pictures of your bike etc.

I know its a terrible cell phone picture but here is my bike that I just got done fixing up. It's a 1984 trek 560. The thing is older than me LOL.

    Re: Any cyclists here?

Present! I don't have any pics of the bikes at the moment, but I ride an old Campag Croco that used to be my dad's when he was racing (it's older than I am, too!) and a fixie that was a project for my dad and I, built from scavenged parts and the frame from an old road bike that we got for next to nothing at a yard sale.

I'm into nothing but road, and more of a TT person. Good to see at least one other cyclist! I'll snap some pics of the bikes tomorrow.

Don't really have any pics of mine, but I ride an '04 Trek 1200. (That is, when I ride. Ever since I started working overnights, my inspiration for physical exercise has declined to a sad level.)

Best advice I can give a (seemingly) new cyclist is this: yes, spandex looks kinda silly, but if you haven't already, buy yourself a pair of Pearl Izumi (or similar) shorts; your butt will thank you. They really do make medium to long distance rides a lot more comfy, especially if the pavement is anything less than perfectly smooth.

I've always been a bit of a bike nut...

I've thinned the herd down to a 1994 Grove Innovations Team Assault and a 1991 Rocky Mountain Blizzard for trail duty...and a 1994 Kona Cinder Cone set up as a single speed for neighborhood cruising...

I have no problems looking silly. I was a competitive swimmer for 10 years so I lost the "I'm going to look ridiculous wearing this" thing a long time ago.

I'm fat and don't cycle enough, but i sure love watching road races on TV. The giro is going on right now. Professional cycling is an underrated sport here in the US!

and don't forget May is national bike month - next week (may 16-20) is bike to work week!

    Re: Any cyclists here?

I've been watching the Giro live in the mornings before my rides. It gets me motivated to go farther lol. It's too bad Wouter Weylandt died during the third stage though. The rest of the teams really showed great respect during the 4th stage. You wouldn't see that in many sports.

    Did someone say cyclists?

I've thinned my own heard quite a bit lately.

Down to one really. I'll get a photo up later.
    2011 Trek Paragon.
    Full Sram x.9 (3x10)
Custom wheels (built by me): Stans Arch 29 rims on Chris King hubs
    Easton EC70 XC Bars
    Easton EC90 Seatpost

I plan on picking up some new toys when the 2012 stuff comes out. Maybe a new road bike, maybe another FS Mountain Bike.
