Odd Behavior
I have had Edgar for about 9 months and he has a new behavior.. Edgar has decided to forgo his 2 hides that are available and has decided to take up residence under his substrate ( indoor carpeting). Has anyone else had there ball do this...And should I be worried

Have you checked the temps above the substrate? Maybe he's cold and trying to get closer to the heat source...

Mine frequently get under the newspaper layers......not much of a difference in temps from the top to the bottom, and they don't do it on the hotspot......I think they just cruise around, get a nose under, and think, Huh, I'll just hide here awhile

I have a few that will do it once in a while, and I know my temps are correct... I check daily.

some prefer to hide under the bedding.
hatchlings all love to hide under the papertowels and if they do i dont give them hides.

i have a male who, ever since i got him years ago, never liked his hides. he always wanted to go under the paper. i tried different types of hides always using the exact same hide on the hot and cool sides.
im sure hes fine. my theory is that he likes to have the paper right on top of him. i still keep hides in his enclosure but now i use two layers so he can get in between them.
