reptile basics hides

So I really want to get some plastic hides, and I like the ones reptile basics has to offer. My question is how heavy are they? Obviously the weight differs between sizes, but are they significantly heavier than, say, tupperware or similar plastics?
I would prefer something that has a bit of weight to them, but if there's not that much of a difference then I'd probably just save myself the shipping hassle. I'm assuming they are heavier, since they're the abs plastic, but just looking for experience. thanks for taking the time!

They r pretty light. Not much heavier than tupperware. If you want a hide with weight try the rock cave style hides that petstores sell. My snakes love them

thanks for the reply! i have thought of those, but finding 2 of the same size at the petsmart by me is tough, or at least I dont check there often enough to find them... i am going to go check today, though, since im in the market for hides...
I was also considering attaching a piece of slate rock to the top of a light plastic hide with silicon or something of the like to add weight...anyone ever done this?

There heavier than tuppleware, but their not heavy. I like them that way though because balls like to cram themselves in them and as they grow they will lift up some and they can get in them..

I started out with the little caves from the pet store as my snakes started growing I replaced them with the hides from Reptile Basics. I like them so much better. My snakes seem to like them to. I can't say enough good about the quick delivery from Reptile Basics. Awesome!

I use Reptile Basics hides only.......my snakes love them and they are easy to clean.

I would buy one of the rock caves from a pet store then use that DIY on here for making ur own hides with the one u bought as a mold.. It looks really easy and inexpensive.

Thats what i plan to do.

and I already made 5 of those dough hides, I was very excited at first but they are very weak, even after 3 coats of shellac. Mine started cracking right out of the oven, then shellacked them, and gave them an ever so tiny stress test and they crumbled...maybe if I could find a good clay recipe, but the dough is too brittle...and i really want something easier to clean, cos im tired of soaking and letting dry my wood hides. im going to check out a pet shop today and probably just order the rb ones

They are little heavier that Tupperware but.. a way sturdier.. small should be good to 300-400g medium up to 1000 large bigger snake.. what is funny my 1200g YB like to move his hide on his back to find the best temp spot for him.... many times iwhen Iopen tube hide has moved inch here inch there lol.. They ate easy to clean and delivery is lighting fast..

I totally agree. Ella loooved her 1/2 log hide. I know - those aren't the best for BPs. But Ella loooved hers and wouldn't use ANYthing else I tried, so I figured why not? Then I moved her to a 40gal breeder tank because she GREW and picked up a couple RB hides. She abandoned her log the next day.

They really are sturdier than tuperware although the plastic is about the same weight. And they're super easy to clean - dishwasher (I just wash them seperately from MY dishes, lol). They are a bit expensive when you consider how many various hides you can hand make, but if your snake won't use those (like Ella), then they are well worth the money. I'll only use these from now on.
