    Retained eye cap?

Okay, so my Pastel YB completely took me by surprise the other day and decided to shed. Now when I got her last month I noticed she had a retained eye cap, but decided to ignore it and let let her settle in first. Now, because I missed all the signs I didn't up my humidity and she had a pretty bad shed. I'm going to assume she now has at least 2 retained eye caps. I tried placing her in a damp pillow case, but that didn't seem to do anything because she wasn't too big on moving around. What else can I try to help her out? She's not very friendly when it comes to being touched, so something non-invasive would be best. Thanks!

The easiest way is to put the TINIEST dab of mineral oil over each eye....you can just briefly, gently rub it over the eye cap. I always give it about 8-12 hours, then you can take a warm, wet (not dripping) washrag and let her crawl through it as you hold it. The eyecaps should just come right off. Mineral oil will not hurt your snake. I know people who use it for bad sheds on the body......that's a no-no. It will make your snake shed one scale at a time and makes a HUGE mess. But for eyecaps, it's the bomb. Good luck

I'm going to have to get out some gloves to accomplish that, but I will give it a try. Is it fine to apply the mineral oil with a q-tip?

A rubber thumb cover, like the ones bank tellers use, takes them off easily. This is what the guys at BHB Reptiles recommend.
