I think a 4x2x2 is a bit on the small size for a carpet or woma. Have you thought about a smaller Boa sub-species? Like a Hog Island? That size cage would be perfect for one.

I am not very fond of snakes. However, the way I figure it, they leave me alone, I leave them alone.

    Here's the problem...

Under my small conrete patio live 2 garter snakes. Well, I know 1 is a garter. The other seems to be a garter, but is too fast for me to get a good look. I would presume that two different species of snakes would probably not share the same living quarters in the wild. I would also HOPE that the other is a garter, since being in SE Pennsylvania, I understand there are a few poisonous snakes native to the area.

Anyhow, I don't mind them being there. They're actually interesting to watch (from the safety of behind my window). EXCEPT, the little bit of research I've done shows that garters usually give birth to a 'litter'? of
30-50 late Summer/early Fall. I don't mind the one snake, especially since it typically justs basks out in the sun. The other, since I really don't know what it is, and the fact that it's very fast, makes me a tad anxious.

    I have TWO concerns:

    1. Since the one snake is kind of sluggish and typically just lays around, I fear she's pregnant. While having a garter living under my porch doesn't bother me greatly, having several dozen makes me want to sell the house.
How can I encourage them to take up residence elsewhere - perhaps in the nice woods not 200' away behind the house - especially if one is pregnant.

    2. What will happen once the weather gets cooler. I certainly don't want them to invade my home in the winter to save them from the cold. How can I prevent this?

I am hoping that I can get some "ethical" assistance from some people. I don't want to have to resort to drastic measures to erradicate the snakes -
I just don't want them multiplying and living under my porch and I certainly don't want them coming into my home.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Thank you VERY MUCH. And, please, I know most of you are snake lovers, and I know I'm have nothing to worry about if they're garter snakes, and snakes are our friends, and snakes play a vital role in the environment and all that, but I really don't like snakes. It's not personal, it's some psychological thing with me. I don't want to have to harm them, I just don't want them so close to my home.

I don't mean to be rude but I think you might be confused on how to post. You should start a new thread in the forum you think your topic would be best suited in. That way other members can post under your topic so you can get the best responses.
