Re: New Corn
Congrats on the new addition! From those pics, it almost looks Miami-ish, but it could just be a normal. Hard to tell with just those 2 pics.
As far as differences from BPs, corns like it slightly cooler with less humidity. Their hot spot should be 85 instead of 90 and their humidity should stay pretty low (as usual, if they experience shedding problems you can provide them with a humid hide).
Of course make sure to leave your baby alone and allow it to acclimate for at least a week. After that, you can handle it the same as you would with your BP. Babies can sometimes be skittish but they generally calm down really well with regular handling. I hope this helps!

(s)he is cute, and I do like the markings. As far as handling I think it really depends on the individual snake. I handle my bp almost daily for an hour and he doesn't seem to stress at all, he even likes it when I rub the bottom of his head (he usually just falls asleep). I usually give my new snakes a week our two before I touch them (besides feeding) then I hold then for 15 min a day or every other day for a month or so. Then provided they don't seem stressed and are eating good then I usually hold them as much as I want. Thats just my technique that has worked for me, I'm sure theres a million other ways and opinions. Good luck and enjoy your pretty corn :-)

Thanks! Once he's all settled in and I'll get some better pictures of him and post them! I've got him in a 10g tank with a hide and some vines in there to clutter it up a bit. I don't know how much they want to feel enclosed but he is a very active little guy! I'm excited to learn more about him!

Re: New Corn
Nice normal! They have always been my favorite, like a 60's Corvette, some things are better left as classics!
*Note* Miami's are actually a "normal" too! They are just native to a different part of the south than most corns. Hence the name.
Anyways, pretty good advise so far. You said you have one hide? I would add another if thats all you have. Hides should be "snug" and not tight like with a BP. They need a reasonably sized hide but are far less particular than BP's.
Babies are very skittish and some have been known to be biters (AKA Hatelings). This will change around a year old for most with some growing to know you earlier or later. Many people over at a very popular corn snake forum (I'm sure you know what I am talking about ) will assure you its ok to hold them on a daily basis for 10-15 minutes and progressing up until the snake no longer is interested in sitting with you. This has worked well for me as well.
Cant wait for more pics!

Yes. I realized after I already posted that I made it sound like a different morph. Still a "normal", just a different locality.
