got some Q's about the bumblebee...

    1) have they ever inherited the spider's wobble?

(i know the wobble is a much debated topic here but i was just curious.)

    2) do they lose any of their brightness as they mature? do they yellow out or brown out?

Anything with the spider gene (bumblebees included) have the wobble to some extent. Some not noticeable, some very bad, just like the spiders.

I think just like the pastels, they do brown out to some extent, depending on their parents coloring.

    1) Yes, bees wobble.

    2) Most of the bees Ive seen brown out,. Its the same with pastels, most will brown out but there are some killer specimens out there that keep most of their yellow.

I asked rabernet about Spiders and this was the response on the wobble:

all spiders and spider crosses will have some degree of wobbling. From almost not even noticeable to what we call "train wrecks".

I think if you're upfront and honest with your buyer and educate them that it does not affect the health and well being of the animal, minimal and average wobbles will not de-value the animal.

Train-wrecks most definitely will devalue the animal, and most breeders don't try to sell train-wrecks. They'll either keep them until they grow out of it (and many do), or they'll chose to euthanize.
Something to keep in mind if buying a Spider.

I didn't know that they will brown up a little more as they get older. I guess that's expected.

Re: got some Q's about the bumblebee...

Just a quick google. This is a good example of a mid grade bee. Its not so brown it looks like a normal spider, but it lost a lot of its yellow (first set of pics)

When looking around, look for pics of adult bees. Most of the time people post pics of younger bees when they are prettiest.

Re: got some Q's about the bumblebee...

    ah,
well, honestly as far as the wobble goes, i wouldnt mind somewhat of a mild wobble as long as it doesnt interfere with the snake being able to eat well.
i imagine life for a snake that is considered a train wreck would be very difficult due to it's severe lack of coordination.
do ya'll know if a snake that starts off with a very mild wobble will get worse as it ages or does the wobble tend to be more pronounced early on then taper off as it grows?

i guess as far as color goes, if i do decide to go for a bumblebee someday, i'd just have to see the parents of the snake i'm interested in so i could get an idea of what the one i'm looking at would end up looking like.
i wouldnt mind some browning out if it's to be expected but it'd be quite difficult to pay alot for a gorgeous bumblebee thats gonna end up looking like a normal run of the mill spider.
i like some spiders dont get me wrong but yeah it would just be really cool if these eye poppin morphs never lost their baby colors.

Re: got some Q's about the bumblebee...

Unfortunately wobbles can go either way. I currently have three balls with the spider gene. One had a medium wobble that has almost disappeared over the last year. The second has never showed any signs of wobble and the third didnt have any signs of a wobble when I bought him but has recently started spinning.

Bumblebees do brown out some, but if your picky and make sure to get one that comes from beautiful adults then your probably more likely to end up with a beautiful adult.

This girl has browned some but not too bad, she comes from NERD and is a Lemon Bumblebee. (In Glow)

    That led to this...

Which should lead to 7 fertile eggs very soon, looks like her ovy is finally starting

The wobble issue is so individual, this girl doesn't even tilt her head sideways like most will do, no wobble and no corkscrewing.

Our spiderbelly girl does some very light headshaking when honing in on her prey but otherwise has a very stable head.

Our male spider is a train wreck and corkscrews and wobbles as bad as any spider I've seen.
He was perfect for 8-9 months but from then till now has steadily gotten worse. He is almost 3 years old now and has a rough time finding his prey item without striking at everything else around him.
I've decided not to breed him, just don't see the point.

Re: got some Q's about the bumblebee...

so the wobble is unpredictable and there's no way to know for sure if the snake will end up with it or not?
