    New mile marker!

Well, its official! I got my very first ball python bite tonight. Its an epic medical disaster. Blood everywhere- but thats what you except from a massive 200g male! I'm quite lucky I was able to save my hand.

No, but seriously, I wasn't paying attention like I should have been and was waving my hand around when I first took him from his tank. He tagged me so fast that I hardly felt it. It really surprised me that there was blood. Sharp little teeth-ies.

I feel bad for startling him. Any ways- Just thought I'd share.

I'm jealous! My girlfriend, heck, my entire family, thinks that I'm weird for wanting to be tagged. I'm just curious about it. I do want it to be the big guy that does it, though. Heck, Gene (my smaller BP) wouldn't bite me if my hand looked, smelled, sounded, and felt like a rat. He's just too awesome.

Okay, I lied. I think he tolerates me, waiting until he's bigger, then he'll slowly consume my entire body, one inch at a time.

See that's what amazes me sometimes, they hit you so fast, sometimes the only way you know you got bit is if there is blood.

I was handling a pastel at a show, roughly 400 grams. She was in blue and really cranky so I was careful not to upset her. Some 20 minutes after I gave her back to the seller, I notice a red spot on the palm of my hand, and when I rub it it smears. I was like, " What the heck is that stuff ?" Finally I realized it was blood, and I laughed. My hubby was like, "What's so funny?" I showed him the little red smear and told him the pastel must have tagged me, and the bite was so bad I didn't notice it for 20 minutes!

He just shook his head at me. See, he has a real serious fear of being bitten, and he could not comprehend I got bit and never even knew it. But I tell you, the little buggers are darn quick, and sometimes you do barely feel it or you don't feel it at all. I sure never felt that girl get me.

The one who scared me was my 2800 gram imported female. She's real nervous and is not used to being handled, that goes without saying, and I did something to irritate her, I don't know for sure what it was, and I saw her S up and had just enough time to think, "This is gonna hurt!" when she hit me square in the palm of my hand, with her mouth closed. If she'd intended to hurt me she would have, but she was simply warning me that time. I've spent a great deal of time with her, and we are beginning to see eye-to-eye. I'm grateful she didn't tag me, she was content to just warn me to be careful.

They get that look in their eye that seems all cute and huggable (maybe just me) and whats really going on in their like snake brains is 'OK, I have patience. I'll eat you one day. Just you wait!'

I totally would not have known if I didn't see it happen. My husband just looks at me like he doesn't know if he should laugh or sigh. He's cool with the snakes but he doesn't really know one end from the other (poor man only had gold fish growing up).

Ya see I'm not part of this club. I'll save all the fun for you guys! I'm pretty good with the language of them and once I see that look I back off or move them away. I'm still part of the never been tagged club. Knocks on wood 

Hahaha! I have yet to recieve my first bite, and I'm hoping to get it done and over with with my 105 gram female spider....but she's far too sweet so I'm pretty sure it's gonna be one of my bigger boys lol. Congrats on the near death survival!
