Mucus without RI?
I had an eventful day today. I took my normal female out today like I do every day and after handling her for about 5 minutes I see this clear thick mucus pouring out of her mouth. There was at least two tablespoons of it, but no other symptoms at the moment [mouth breathing, wheezing, etc.]. She had been wheezing a little a couple weeks ago but that went away within days after temporarily boosting the ambient temps in the tank. She fed last week without any problems. She has never refused a meal.
So called the vet, got in a few hours later [same day, pretty good service!]. No signs of anything wrong. No mucus since this morning. No wheexing, mouth is clear. No scale or mouth rot. Everything seems fine.
She is at 370grams, and is about 30 inches long which is really small for a BP that's at least two years old but she's a rescue I took in who was found left for dead after an eviction. She's been gaining weight and length steadily since I acquired her and her progress has been constant. I've been giving her large mice with an occasional comparable size rat. She doesn't seem to care what I put in the tank. I put it in, she eats it.
I am waiting for her to defaecate so I can bring a feces sample in but that could be days from now. The vet did not suspect RI but wasn't sure if it could be some type of parasite, or something else. No meds have been started yet since the problem hasn't been pin pointed.
Any ideas? From forum searching I can only find mention of mucus in talking about RI, but what else can cause it? Has anyone seen this much come out at once?

She may have just had a drink before you picked her up. I have heard of that happening.

Yep Water. Mucous would not be in that large of an amount.....the snake would be dead first.

I sure hope that's all it was, but either way the vet visit was probably a good idea just to be safe given the fact that she was wheezing a couple weeks ago. She's been though so much already I didn't want to take any chances on an RI getting out of hand.
