    5 eggs, 3 seem health 2 seem(?)

My het pieds had 5 eggs and one slug. 3 seem very healthy, I can see clear veins and nice a pink color. The other two, the veins are weak and seem more yellow inside then pink, do you thinke these eggs dead?
What could of caused that? I didn't realized mom laid the eggs until 2 days after. They were heated with mom but sinse i didn't get them in the incubator 1st day could that of made the difference? thank.

I would incubate them anyway. I've read that alot of these kind of eggs will go the full term and hatch. Plus, it's your het pied project... might as well give yourself all 5 shots at your pied!! Congrats on the eggs

From what I've learned, there wasn't anything you did to cause this. It just happened that way.

Hope they make it for you. Good luck on pretty pieds!
Lots of BPs, and still not enough!

I'll echo the previous replys most of the time these eggs hatch fine. Good luck can't wait to see you hatch out your pied.

I had a pastel lay on the 8th. One slug 5 eggs. Three eggs were orange with good veins, two of the eggs were yellow with weak veins. I put all five in the incubator and after three or four days the eggs that were yellow inside turned orange with great veins. I'm thinkin cool, their gonna make it......apparently not. This week end one of the two eggs that were yellow started to mold, and evetually started to cave in. I figured it was dead so I cut into it to check the fetus. That was pretty interesting. Hope yours pull through. I was kinda bummed the paring was pastel x firefly, was hoping for some superflies, still have a chance........

Re: 5 eggs, 3 seem health 2 seem(?)

Last year I got two eggs and a bunch of slugs from a pastel girl. One of the two eggs looked yellow when candled and had only a tiny patch of thin veins. Both went full term and hatched out two healthy pastel girls. They weren't the killerbees I was shooting for(dad was a bee), but I was glad to get two females.
