    Smile First Burm Clutch

My first Burm clutch was laid this morning, it was also the first for her as well. She had 22 eggs, with which looks like 17 slugs, they are much smaller in size to comparison of the other five and have a yellowish tint. I have breed balls before but have never experienced slugs with any of their clutches, nonetheless I am very happy to have five good eggs. Does anyone know what causes slugs, is there anything I could or should have done differently or is it just because this was her first clutch? She is about 10-11 foot and weighed about 50lbs prior to becoming gravid. Thanks everyone!

One big cause is if the male, Not the female was not cooled properly. Another is the size of the female and her age, if she is under 9 ft, she is to small, or if she is younger then a 2 she is to young. Or if her weight wasn't up to where it needed to be, so the eggs could have pulled a lot away from her. Also if this is her first clutch that could be a cause of it.

Good luck and contras. If it makes you feel better my female retic laid 50 eggs, 5 were slugs 90 days later I lost all the eggs but 2 this was after they hatched.
