    Black pastel het red?

First off sorry I didn't get a picture. I just stopped in at a local big chain pet store and looked at a BP. It was a male so I passed on buying it...but. I just had to ask some questions. It was darker than all the other ones, but the thing I noticed was it had squiggles around the alien eyes. A good amount of them. The belly wasn't clear though. My first thought was black pastel until I saw the belly. Then after I left I thought about het red. Thoughts?

    No telling without pics..

    Re: Black pastel het red?

How much were they asking? And does anyone know what a black pastel het red would normally go for?

I don't live far from there...maybe it would be worth the trip??

A pic sure would be nice though

What was it marketed as? If it was being sold as a normal, it is highly likely that it is just a fancy captive hatched (hatched in Africa on a BP farm from a wild female collected gravid) normal.

Some morphs automatically look like het reds. Cinnys and black pastels often have a blackback pattern with messy patterning. Black pastels do have crazy alien heads but the chance of it actually being a het red also is slim.

Try to get some pics and find out what it's being sold as. Het reds are also genetic blackbacks but the only way to prove unknown genetics on those is to breed it.

$79. If it was female I would have gotten it. I just haven't seen the squiggles on normals before. It's at the Pet-Co in Burnsville if anyone wanted to look at it, I'm going to pass I think. but if someone does get it, post a picture here.

Doh! Oh well, I don't really need a male black pastel anyways. (if it is one)

Agree.. Many morphs do not have clean bellies. Especially the dark morphs.
