    Popping noise while breathing

I just fed my male mojave (425 grams or so) a rat. This rat was a bit larger than I would have liked, but its all I had for him. There is a noticeable bulge in his stomach.
I am writing this because after the feeding I am hearing a slight popping noise as he breathes. I am not seeing any drooling, mucous in his nose, or bubble of any kind. Why could I be hearing this? RI with no outward signs? Something else?
    Thanks for any answers.

Did he recently shed? Sometimes if there is a little stuck shed stuck up their nose it can sound similar.
