Quick, I need lots of opinions!!

So I bought a plast Tub for Oden. I need to get him in it TONIGHT!
So I need to set it up today.
I need to know, where to put the holes, and how many, I want lots of opinions because I don't want to screw this up! Its a good size tub.
    Thanks

Do you have a thermostat? a UTH? Whats your humidity?

Holes in the tub are the least of your worries. One or two holes are fine if you need more humidity. If you need to lower humidity then put more. Snakes need much less air than a mammal would.

Sounds like you should do your homework and get your temps and humidity in order before you put your snake in a new enclosure.

Once again holes are one of the least important factors.

I do have a dimmer for the UTH, although it is finicky, I had it set perfectly last night at 91 and then I woke up to it being under 80. I guess I will have to go out for the 10th time and buy a real thermastat. How much are they?
I have the humidity at 50, it was at 70, but he has now shed, (first time with us) and it was a pretty good one, it was all one peice except the head, the whole head was off but one peice seperated, theres nothing left on him though.
Shouldn't there be quite a few holes for breathing?

I agree you really should get a thermostat, a good one will range between about $60.00-$120.00. My cheapest one is a Johnsons and I got that prewired for $80.00 on reptile basics, my most expensive one was a Spyder Robotics Herpstat for $118.00 grounded with free shipping.

As for the holes, I just did one row about 1 1/2 inches apart across the top of the sides. Mine are 34 qt tubs. I also used black spray paint to black out the sides, back, and lids of my tubs, but you have to let them air out for about 3 days to get rid of the fumes. You can always try Cont-Tact paper from Home Depot for like $6.00 a roll, might be a PITA to do on a tub though.

    Good luck!

Take your time setting up a new enclosure for your Bp then put him in only after you have met all of his requirements.

A dimmer could work but you need to monitor it and adjust almost constantly.a thermostat is much better and requires only setting temp 1 time. Ranco is a good cheaper thermostat at around $80.00 pre wired.

    Good luck.

Wow, thermastats are allot, how do you choose which one, are some better than others?
So with the holes, why did you choose the top of the tub and not the bottom.
someone else suggested a few holes on the top of the cold side and a few holes on the bottom of the hot side so the air moves??
    My tun is 28 inches long x 13 high x 19 deep

I like to keep any holes up high around the upper edge or top if you are using it. pick up a soldering iron at a hardware store it's much easier to burn hole in then drill them. you might start with about 20-24 holes if water droplets form or it gets foggy with water put in more holes.you will get a feel for it sooner or later.

Here is a good basic thermostat for under $30.

I shocked noon spotted this tub too tall fora bp it only needs to be like 7-8 inches tall max. a 13 inch tall will be too tall. I use 41 quart tubs from kamrt/wallmart that are like 13-16 wid about 26-30 deep but max out like 7-8 tall. ( these fit under bed type) and work great as I use the lids on my tubs as a safe guard against mold, hold humidity, and as shield against attmepts of escape and ( then dragging a snake against the wood and causing damamge)
