    Soaking question

My female has been bred and I believe has ovulated. She is going into her pre lay shed I believe and has been soaking in her water bowl for over a week now. Do I leave her in her water dish or should I remove her. Humidity is fine in her tub and she has never in 3 years crawled all the way into her water dish. I did take her out to change the water and an hour later she was back in again. Should I just leave her to it?

I can't tell you the right answer, but I can tell you my female just did the same thing.

She stayed in the water 4 days. Finally I got concerned and took it from her and gave her the small dish back. Within 24 hours she shed and seems perfectly fine.

But, I was definitely concerned for a while. Hopefully someone else can chime in with more info.

I agree soaking is still building. I've got a few girls that have been in their dishes for a little over a week now. Some really like to soak others don't.

I agree, many of my females will soak for weeks at a time(if given large enough water bowl) right up to ovulation. BUT if she is in shed it may just because of that as many snakes like to soak when in shed.

If she is not in shed, is glowing and soaking for long periods, I would wait until she stops soaking and then check on her twice a day and watch for ovulation. I have caught many girls this way. I have taken pics soaking and then around 3 weeks later ovulating. I have one female soaking right now.

I thought she was goin into shed but now I dont think she is. She has never climbed into her water bowl to shed in 3 years so I think your right about the building. My other female just shed on 3/24/11 and has been on the hotspot for a week and today she was on the cool side and swollen like a water balloon (ovulation) and already and back on the hotspot after wards. Its getting to the point that I think they are just messing with me or playing some sort of bad aprils fools joke on me. Thanks for the input.

Oh I think they do it purposely!!! They are brats that's for sure. I had a female marked for ovulation. But I guess she faked me out because last night shes even bigger!
