How do you set up your reptile room?

So, not all of us have a reptile room, but I was curious how to set one up. I mean, do you use UTH for the whole thing or just heat up the whole room with a space heater or what? Do you need a ceiling fan to circulate the heat? And do you have a sink in the room? Pictures would also be awesome. I was wondering especially for ball pythons since they're the snakes I have. Anyway, just interested in how those things work and how much money it costs. I'm not much of a DIYer, so it would probably be really expensive for me. I was never really good at wood shop... unfortunately.

My snakes take up half of my rat room, or is it my rats take up half of my snake room

I keep the smaller snakes in 28qt tubs in a melamine rack but keep all of my breeders on a bookshelf set up with 41qt tubs.
Melamine book shelves with the shelves nailed closer together so the tubs with lids slide under the shelf above preventing the snake from escaping.
I place 11x12 inch flexwatt on each shelf and keep the room around 76-78 degrees with your typical baseboard heater.

The snakes breed, eat and thrive in this set up and I love being able to walk in my room and see what's going on without sliding a drawer open and disturbing the breeding snakes.

My snake/rat room has a bathroom right next to it, I wish I had a sink in it.

Re: How do you set up your reptile room?

Well, when I finally get a snake room, I'm planning on having 2 racks (or rather metal shelf units converted to racks), and using flexwatt for the hot spots and heating the whole room with a space heater/baseboard heat to keep the ambient at 78-80. Seems to make the most sense. I imagine needing a ceiling fan would depend on the size of the room. And it would definitely be nice to have a sink in there, but I bet that won't happen haha

And, since I don't actually have any of this yet, no pictures sorry

Re: How do you set up your reptile room?

Here's my room. I keep the ceiling fan on medium or high 24/7, otherwise the bottom tubs don't heat properly. I also keep that space heater set to 82, which usually maintains the room at ~80 degrees.

I use flexwatt on the racks in addition to the space heater... I don't feel comfortable just heating the room. There's also a little wine cooler incubator in there now where that trash can is.

    No sink I wish...

Re: How do you set up your reptile room?

I only have 4 snakes who live in different size tubs, for now. I use a 5 shelf set-up from Home Depot, that I split in half to make two units. Each tub has it's own UTH for a warm side, and I use a space heater hooked up to a Ranco T-stat to keep the room around 80f. I also have an oscillating fan running on "Low" to circulate air...
