Original Vs. Morph
I know that I am new to the whole snake thing, but why do people love different sub species, morphs and so on?
I fell in love with snakes just for the beautiful patterns that they possess from nature!
I only own one BP, but find the colors far more beautiful from all the morphs and etc. Yes, morphs are interesting, but I fell in love with snakes for their natural color, patterns and natural beauty.
Am I the only one that find the originals the most beautiful and spectacular?
Sorry. Just wondering?

I guess it is just my personal preference, but I think the originals are the best!

For me it is the individuality

It's not that I don't love the classic, I just also appreciate the beauty of the morphs as well and the insanely varied looks they come in. They're all colors and patterns that originate from wild caught specimens, it's not something people just inserted into the snakes to make them look the way they do, so I don't see a problem with loving the ball python as a species with all the gorgeous appearances they have. Classics always hold a special place in my heart, the first ball pythons I had experience with were "normal" and I still love they way they look (wasn't allowed to have snakes until I moved out, so I spent a lot of time with my friend's snakes and I still visit, awesome animals)
Edit: Just realized this goes for other herps as well, but it's the same opinion

Most base morphs come from nature. I mean, you keep mentioning the reason you like the classic is due to the fact that it's natural, but most morphs were originally found in Africa. I personally like morphs because I'm interested in genetics. However, I wouldn't care if all my snakes were to turn into normals, I would still love them.

You mentioned "subspecies".
I can tell you that you and the people who are subspecies or locality purists are on the same page. For example, you're not going to have GTPs from different islands breeding to each other in the wild, so those crosses are less representative of what you'll find where they originate from.

I have a simple pastel and I think he's beautiful, I actually picked him though over a NERD lemon BP. I think it also depends on their personality too. My pastel is such a sweetheart, and that makes him even more beautiful to me. I've seen many beautiful normals too, my friend has one that even prettier than my pastel.
