Probe placement in Boaphile "Ball Room" rack?

We recieved our rack today! I'll do a writeup later on it, props to Jeff over at The Boaphile for a fantastic, super sturdy, super well-built rack.

Right now however I'm trying to solve the issue of thermostat probe placement. Does anyone have any of these racks, and if so, how/where do you put your probe? I was gonna give Jeff a call but it's gotten late, so thought I'd ask here.

    Thanks

Re: Probe placement in Boaphile "Ball Room" rack?

I have the 6 tub rack, and I taped my probe directly to the heat tape on the bottom shelf (kind of on the side/corner where it curves up to weave up to the next shelf).

Right now I only have snakes in 3 of the 6 tubs, so I have snakes in the top 3 tubs. It may be overkill, but everyone says that the top tubs are usually a little warmer than the bottom ones. So, I have an acurite in the top tub, and then the bottom tub (actually the fourth tub, since the bottome three don't have snakes in them). I then set the thermostat so the top and bottom tub stay between 90-92 degrees.

I hope this all makes sense!

I am sure you will love your new rack. I have had mine for almost a year, and it is absolutely great! The only thing that sucked was the long wait!

    Cheers!

When you tape your probe down, do you place the tape over the probe tip, or over the wire just behind the probe tip?

Re: Probe placement in Boaphile "Ball Room" rack?

I use aluminum tape, and have the entire probe taped flat up against the flexwatt -- so the actual probe is taped tight to the flexwatt. None of the probe is exposed -- it is entirely covered by the piece of tape.

How did the probe placement work out? Where did you end up putting it? Did you contact Jeff from Boaphile -- what did he say?
