Re: Bedding VS carpet
Bedding. Pull out dirty stuff and toss it, replace it all once a month, and I don't have to worry about inadvertently becoming a bacteria breeder because my carpet stuff didn't dry properly and is all gross.

I personally would also recommend cypress mulch, or coconut husk (or a mix of the two, like I found) because it is mold-resistant and helps control humidity.

Re: Bedding VS carpet
I know I am the oddball I use carpet and really like it. I wash it in the washing machine with just a little bleach and let it hang dry. Any time it is dirty I just slip it out and slip a fresh one in. I clean the glass under the carpet weekly which is probably overkill but urine will go thru and get on the glass a little. I only have 1 snake if I had more I might change my mind.

Re: Bedding VS carpet
I would use carpet like I had in my old 10 gallon tank for my one Ball. But now I am getting 2 Pythons and its a 75 gallon and there is going to be alot of stuf inside it. Hides waterbowl wood etc. And taking the carpet out every time they do their business i do not want to take everything out of it. It would be easier to clean it fully once a month.

Re: Bedding VS carpet
I like paper towels for lots of reasons:
1. Less chance of bp ingesting wood chips during feeding
2. Very easy to clean up quickly & completely - and regularly (no bacteria breeding!)
3. Accurately maintains proper belly heat temps without having to make thermostat adjustments due to bedding being a bit thicker or thinner when changing bedding
and,
4. My bp does really well with this choice of substrate.
Hope this info is helpful for those wondering about paper toweling.

Re: Bedding VS carpet
I was actually considering using fleece for my future rack system. For one, I wouldn't have to worry about them ingesting substrate when they were eating. For two, if they make a mess, I think fleece would be a lot easier to throw into the washer than say a chunk of carpet. Plus, it would save on costs down the line since I would buy in bulk and reuse throughout the year.
Thoughts an opinions on this please?
