    just got a red tail

    i picked up a red tailed boa hypo het albino and have a question...he is 69g how much food should he eat? i also have ball pythons and go by the 10-15% rule with them mostly closer to the 15% side...is this also true for boas?

    after i feed once i will post pics...

    1.0 lesser BP papa less
    1.0 spider BP Spiderman
    1.0 axanthic bp silver bullet
    0.1 spider BP Charlotte
    0.1 mojave BP Sandy
    0.1 pastel bp sunshine

    Yup, the same feeding rules for bps apply to boas. You might want to go for something about fifteen percent of the body weight (or something about as big around as your snake) every five to seven days. Congrats on the new baby, by the way!

    The 10%-15% rule is about right. I would feed rat pinks in the 7-10gram range about every8-10 days. Young boas digestive systems are more sensitive and it takes them a little longer to replenish their digestive fluids. Feeding too much or too often can sometimes cause regurgitation issues.

    Agreed. Same size guidelines as for ball pythons, but I personally prefer to feed my boas less frequently than my ball pythons.
