    Help Moms Are Sharing Babies!

Well I know that it's ok for moms to share babies. I only have one 3 shelf rat rack in two of those each time they give birth the moms find their corner and keep their separate from the other Which I like like this I does not matter how big or small the babies are they all get milk. But I have one that no matter what size they are they are all together like I had rat pups two weeks ago and more just yesterday I don't know if the big ones let the babies drink so what should I do? I got two more moms about to pop in that rack any day now

I'm a little confused as to what you are asking. If you have two females that are about to pop, why can't they go together? If they are both about to pop their babies will be the same size and everyone should get milk. Maybe I'm not reading it right....

Or is the problem that you don't have any more room for the new moms? You can make a temporary tub out of a big plastic storage tub.

If you keep multiple moms together you will encounter some moms that hog all of the babies.
I separate moms so I don't have this issue, if you don't separate there isn't much you can do except let them be.

ASF's are the same, I constantly see pinkies in with almost weaned babies feeding off the same mom.
As long as the pinks are getting their share they do just fine.

I'm not sure what your asking.
If you keep the moms together they will share, or some will, and there's nothing you can do about it.
If you want the moms to keep their own babies to nurse then the only option is to separate them into mommy tubs.

$45 in materials and you can separate them should you want to go that route...

If I have a tub that has pups a couple of weeks older than pinkies, I will take out some of the pups(crawlers, whatever you want to call them), and foster them in to a tub with fewer rats right around the same age. That way, if the older pups happen to starve out the pinks, at least there are fewer of them.
9 times out of 10, that solves any pinks that may get neglected...

Good point, if your raising enough litters that's one way to do it.

What size tubs did you use?

They are 20qt sterilite and 1844 is the number on them.
I don't have rats that chew on plastic so it's not been an issue for me, but the guy I got my older momma rack from did have chewers, these tubs don't handle being chewed on very well
