    New to Balls

Hello all. I once had a normal Ball and had a blast with it. Then my city changed their ordinance and I had to get rid of her. I have been reading up and studying them ever since and want to get into breeding. I am headed to a reptile expo to purchase 2 morphs. I am thinking of starting with a Bumble Bee and a Lesser. My goal is a AXANTHIC KILLER BEE eventually. Anyone have any suggestions on what to start with or any other advice.

Hello, and to BP.net. Good luck on your future breeding projects. I'm not a breeder so I'm afraid that I'm not much help in suggesting morphs...

That's too bad that you had to get rid of your first bp. I'd probably end up moving rather than give up my snakes, they're as much my babies as my cat is!

Good luck with the breeding too!! A bee or a lesser would both be really nice to start with, seems like pieds are always really popular too, but they can be expensive. I'm personally into albinos, but I'm not a breeder either, so it's really up to you

Wait....you had to get rid of your normal, but morphs are ok with the city? And, unless you're a visible member of the community, how did the city know you had one you needed to get rid of because of the ordinance?

    I'm guessing the OP moved.

If you want axanthic killer bees then you need to buy a female pastel a female spider and an male axanthic. Breed him to both. You'll get normals and spiders and pastels het axanthic. Keep back one or more of each sex and breed them together. (a spider to a pastel). Then you have a chance at axanthic bees. Keep back a pair of THOSE to have a chance at the axanthic killer bee. This is a LONG project. I think about 9 years minimum if you hit all the odds each year. You could shorten this by buying pastel and spider both het axanthic to start.

    Good luck!

(NOW you know why combos with recessives are so expensive.)

We recently moved and I am an employee for the city that changed the ordinance so I could not intentionally break it.

might want to start off with a bumblebee and an axanthic if that's your goal, you will have all the pieces, just need to put em all together.

Oh wow. You are a much better emplyee then I am. I would rebel and break the rules...silently and secretivly. Like a ninja, but without being Asian or fast....or strong....or fit.

Anyway, I give you props for abiding by the rules.
