Great pics! My poor boy missed a F/T hopper a couple weeks ago and refused to eat it. I guess grabbing its paw freaked him out a bit. Of course he didn't mind getting a few scratches from a live hopper while in shed the next week and almost never misses when hitting live prey!

    Re: Feeding fail!

Mine had a feeding fail a few weeks ago. When I tried to get him out of his tank he refused to unwrap from his "perch" I had in there for a little while, so I put him in his feeding container along with the perch he held onto. When I dangled the f/t in the container he turned around and struck so quick he bit the perch instead! Luckily he immediately struck and ate the mouse though. Overly anxious!

I guess we can't claim they're the smartest animals in the world... LOL. I have many "feeding fail" stories from my collection, which makes me wonder how they make it in the wild! The funniest was when my granite corn (who's a MAJOR pig) was in full blue, but I offered a f/t hopper mouse anyway - he immediately started bumping around like a blind man, and then proceeded to strike at the tongs. Took him a good 2-3 tries before getting the mouse, and I really wish I'd gotten that on camera.

One of my BP's, Nergal, kept missing his mouse the other day. He struck air three times, then a nearby trash bag, and after I got his teeth out of that he bit me, missed again, finally got it.

My IJ carpet did that last week...I watched her chew on the tail for a good 15-20 minutes before I tried to assist her, at which time she just struck wildly at me...she was on her own after that!!!lol
She did eventually get it down though.
