Lay box or no lay box?

Ok so this is our first year breeding and we have one post ovulation female and I was looking for some opinions. Should we provide a lay box for her or no? And if so tell me how you usually set it up. Thanks guys.

We don't use lay boxes for BPs. They lay them wherever they see fit. We do use them for colubrids though.

I used one last year for the only female I had the laid. She used it and made it easy to remove the eggs. I was on vacation was the reason I used a box just to make sure there was enough humidity. Not sure if I will this year.

My 1st year breeding I used a Lay boxes made out of a large tupperware with a large hole cut in the lid and half filled with Spagnum moss. I only had 4 clutches that year but all were laid in their lay box.

I have not used them since. I use mulch as my bedding and when they get withing a week or two of laying I have been giving them fresh mulch ( Still nice and moist ) and put extra in the back of the tub. All my females make nice deep nest back in the extra bedding so I don't feel the need to provide a nest box... That said I use BoaMaster Racks not open Racks so I do think that the Security the nest box can provide is needed since they are hidden on three sides already.

They lay eggs on paper towels just fine

I only gave lay boxes to snakes kept in glass enclosures to provide a more comfortable/humid nest. The majority of my snakes are in rack systems now so the lay boxes aren't necessary.

This thread is 6 years old, but I wanted to be sure that not providing a lay box was still the consensus. I've seen videos of clutches laid directly on the bottom of a plastic bin, others who use mulch, and others who use paper towels. I'm looking for something that will make my females comfortable, but also won't stick to the eggs when I pull them out. My snakes are kept on aspen bedding. Is aspen ok? Can I remove the aspen entirely? Should I use paper towels? Mulch? Moss? Something else?
