    Chondro questions!

First off, I won't be rushing into a GTP. I'm still new to snakes but my interest grows more and more everyday. I currently own a ball python who is just like most balls. Calm and easy to manage and handle. I'm also the new owner of a Blood Python who is actually quite tame so far. I keep both in tubs and CONSTANTLY check humidity, heat, cleanliness etc. Maintaining a comfortable environment for them is actually pretty fun for me!

With that in mind, once I do take the plunge and commit to a GTP it will be a "display" snake so-to-say. I won't be setting up an enclosure in the middle of the room, more in a corner where I can see it from a distance. I'd hate to disturb what I think is a shy animal. But here are the questions I'm sure you're all sick of answering, but I ask because I like to know what you experienced owners think and I like REAL feedback, not just a brief article some where on the internet. (All though that sort of reference is still appreciated!) So what can I expect in terms of housing? Humidity? Temps? Feeding frequency and good diets? I've found what I think to be a good terrarium at boaphile. (http://www.boaphileplastics.com/arborealcages.html) What size is correct though. This snake is something my wife was interested in, because frankly, they're gorgeous but I'd love to own one some day myself. Any help, advice or even warnings are much appreciated!

    Re: Chondro questions!

Hey there! They are fantastic animals.. I prefer pvccages.com the humidity levels are perfect for me just need to mist once a day and its easy as pie.
    since u are a newb I recommend u getting a yearly... still young .

GTP are not as hard as everyone claims they are not as fragile as everyone thinks aswell.

if I were u I would start with getting Greg Maxwell's book 'more complete chondro' this will answer many question for u and get u info that u may not even realize u need.
I tub all my Neos I would never put them in a display till they are at least 1 year old.

I hold all my GTP and enjoy them just as I do our other snakes so don't feel they are just a display animal - I think they tolerate us as much as other snakes breeds.

Good luck.. have u had the chance to think of the local u would like?
I would also like to recommend getting one from a reputable breeder - knowledge is everything and getting a good bloodline can make a fine animal.

And as for the locale, the wife LOVES the wamena Local GTPs. I picked up a Blood python, so it's her turn to choose. (all though I think I'm more excited than her!)
