    opinion on pastels?

OK so I was browsing some classifieds, looking for a nice pastel female, and I came across a 1.1 pair of Pastel het ghosts for $600 about 2 hours south of me. Before I commit to buying them I thought I'd get peoples opinion on where these fall in the pastel scale. IMO they are GORGEOUS, and the het ghost is a bonus I wasn't looking for. I believe their 2010, don't know weights.

What do you think?(the one in shed, and the one on the left in the side by side are the female)

Those are very nice clean pastels! But 600 kinda steep. Even for a het ghost. Either way id take em! Nice find!

When $250 gets you a pastel female that doesn't look any different than a normal, that's a good price. I was actually surprised they are ONLY $600 being such beautiful pastels and het ghosts!

I would have to agree with the price being a little steep, but it depends on their size too. I think that that would be a reasonable price if they were in the 500 gram range. They may be worth a little more if they come from a reputable breeder with a full guarantee on their genetics. There are too many unknown factors. I think they are both nice.

Keep in mind I'm in Canada, prices seem to be a bit higher for morphs here. Breeder is reputable, I have no doubt they are what he says they are.

They are beautiful snakes. If u like them get them. I think people underestimate the pastel potential. They help in creating some of the more popular and exciting looking mophs

    Re: opinion on pastels?

Pastels were never really my cup of tea personally, but those are absolutely gorgeous in my opinion. If you really like them, I'd definitely go for it. They both look healthy, and $600 isn't a bad price for a pair of pastels het ghost, considering a good pastel will run you in the high $200's or low $300's each.

    Re: opinion on pastels?

I think the best way to judge a pastel is... look at the top of the yellow around the back of the snake. You can see a distinct line where the color of the scales are a little darker. That is the line where the brownout will happen. I was just looking at some baby pics of my pastel and realized that was the case. Out of the 2 I definitely think the female is a screamer and looks like she will continue to scream as she ages!

    Re: opinion on pastels?

I'd say you have a good eye for pastels, because those are really nice. Personally, I believe the het ghost enhances the pastel appearance, but I don't have any proof of that, just what I've noticed in pictures and a couple I've held over the years. They're definitely gorgeous, and pastel-ghosts are really beautiful. That pair looks to me like it has great potential.

Folks may agree or disagree on the $600 price tag, but everyone has their cut-offs on what they consider a "good deal". If I were in your shoes and in the market as you've described, and if I could afford the $600....I'd go for it and be very happy to do so!
