dessert storm???

does anyone lives in the dessert, I do, las vegas to be exactly n currently have a normal BP on my tank 75g its 3-4 years old, don't know I found it outside my GF house, I got into reef and salt water and man!!!! if you thought snakes where spencive, u have no idea on salt water, its awefull, but its worth it.
anyhow, I mange to get a bigger tank for my snake, about 120g-140g but theres no room in my house for another tank, my idea was to put it in the garage on the big tank alonge with my pool rable and other goodies, now summer time goes about 115F and winter can go as low as 25F-30F, summerI was thinkin on a industrial fan that will blow fresh air in the snake havitat, and winter I have made a boxy house with a couple of heates pads One on Left wall, also right wall N one in the floor along with a nice bedding, would this be putting my snakes (PRUSIANO) live in danger? or u guys think it will do ok, any ideas or help will be apreciated! thanks in advance!!

With ball pythons the smaller the better,even a 75g is too big,you want something around 30-40gallon for an adult.Ball pythons like nice tight enclosures,they are shy snakes and spend most of the time hiding away,take him to the vet with a fecal sample to check for parasites and anything else that could be harmful.

I know that my snake is on very good health conditions and not need of taking any samples to the vet.... but I guess it woun't hurt to do so just to make sure...lol
But I will take that in concideration to move it to a 40 breeder tank, by the way my BP spend 40% of his time out in the open tank and about 60% in his log, thanks do!

We have several members that live in arid desert (not dessert) areas. Hopefully they'll see your post and reply.

I would recommend getting a smaller enclosure and keeping your snake indoors. There are simply too many variables that are uncontrollable out in your garage, the biggest being keeping the humidity up around 50-60% all the time, which he requires.

If space is an issue, then I would recommend looking into a plastic tub set-up instead. Since they are shy animals that spend most of their lives in cramped termite mounds and rodent burrows, they don't require a lot of space, and in fact feel more secure in a smaller enclosure.

I am confused. You found the snake outside of your girfriend's house, or the tank? If it was the snake, then I definitely would get it checked out for parasites. If it was the tank, then I would be sure to sterilize it properly before using it.

I would make life simple, and buy a sterilite tub, some flexwatt and a thermostat, and call it a day!

BTW -- did the snake you found roaming around outside have any id tags on so you could call the owner?

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you said you "found it outside your girlfriend's house", but I agree with the previous posters that you should just get a plastic tub and some flexwatt... it's sooo much cheaper and easier. Plus, both of those tanks are WAY too big for a ball python. They only get to be a maximum of 5 feet (maybe 6 ft) long, and he'll actually be pretty stressed out in such a huge enclosure. The biggest tank I would recommend for an adult ball python is either a 40 or 55 gal, but even those can be a pain to move and maintain. If you got a sterilite/rubbermaid tub instead, you wouldn't have to worry about the space it would take up in your house either.

But whatever you decide to do, please do not put your snake in your garage. You yourself pointed out how much the temperatures fluctuate, and the humidity would be difficult to maintain. A tub would save you a lot of space and aggravation, and I bet you could probably make some pretty decent money selling both of those huge tanks!!

Yeah I found the snake outside my girlfriend's house about 3-4 years ago, she was gonna call animal services to take care of that, and after I was looking around the snake, I realize it was a pet and not wild snake, and also people friendly , so I took him home, next day my girlfriend and I knock on her neighbors to see if any of them was the owner, we try about 40 houses and nothing so I took it to the vet to check for health sex and other staff, and him is been with me since then

ok here is the story about my snake and my girl:::
4 years ago I was dating my girlfriend and I was gonna pick her up to go to the movies, she called me and said she couldn't go because there was a snake outside her house and she was scare, I though it was Bu!!$#!%, then she called me again and ask for a # for animal control, and ask me to go to her house and help her out, when I show up on her house, indeed the snake was chilling on the front door, and after about 20 minuted of watching the snake and studying him I took him home.
next day we knock on my girlfriend's neighbors with hope of finding the owner (that was my girlfriend idea) me (hope of not find them) lol and after knocking on like 40 houses no body knew anything or anyone so I run into the vet and petco and adopt him and this is the end of the story
pretty sweet huh?
