Shedding in cold spot hidding
Hi everyone, this is my first post in this amazing forums, and i find it quite interesting, mainly because i have 3 BP, and 1 of them is shedding, just got the blue (milky) eyes, can some1 please tell me if its natural that my baby 103 grs BP pass the shedding procces in his hide, but in his COLD SPOT HIDE., and if is not, if i should take her manually to the hot spot, the hot spot is about 90° ambient, 93° in soil and about 96 under the substrate, im using a sterylite 28 QT. I have read "the shedding procces" and the autor comments its ussual that they spend the entire shedding procces in his hide, but my other BP did that in the HOT SPOT.
thnx and very nice forum you have here.

Welcome aboard!
It really doesn't matter where your snake likes to hang out....whether shedding, or digesting, or whatever. So long as you provide them the choices, they'll choose whatever they think is best for them at the time.
You manually trying to force the snake to conform to your own ideas will only cause stress...and probably serve little purpose if the snake crawls right back out and heads to the previously favored hide.

Welcome! I saw a snake shed at an expo Saturday. He was right there in a display case no hide at all. It was so cool to watch. Boy was he gorgeous afterwards.

i think youre rigth its just that i dont get ir, im afraid she gets RI because of that, but ill respect her decitions, anyway i really cant be there all day/nigth and even if i could it would be so much stress to her, ill just trust in her instincts =)
and DellaF i would like a lot to see it, ive seen it at YT but just not the same. xD

Re: Shedding in cold spot hidding
So long as your "cold" temps are still around 80 degrees, she's in no danger of getting an RI. If they fall below 75 for long stretches of time (overnight, for instance) then you do have something to be concerned about. But then the issue wouldn't be figuring out how to convince her to stay on the warmer side...but rather, figuring out how to warm up the cooler side a bit more.

thnx done, i almost didnt sleep last nigth, but i used a oil warmer (dont know exactly its name) used to warm up rooms and maintained a 84° ambient in all room, i checked several times (calefaction is not required where i live, just a little bit if you are sick) and the temp was constant all nigth, thx.

It sounds like you have a good set up and you have already received some great advice. I can only think of one thing other than what has been said. I'm guessing you have two hides in your tub? Are they identical or different? A BP will chose which hide it feels more secure in regardless of its health if there are different hides in the enclosure. If they are the same I wouldn't worry too much. Everything else sounds good!
Oh, and welcome to the site!

thanks for the welcoming, and yes they are identical, or at least almost, i did not take any pictures and i dont want to stress my baby doing so (bcos of the sheed), i made the hides myself with sauce plastic recipients, only cut a entrance as identical as i could (no sharp edges were left), of course as a handwork it cant really be identical, but in 95% they are, she used to use her hides normally, from one to another for periods of time, but 4 days ago i only was seeing her in the cold spot, i hope everything is ok.

Slightly different doorways shouldn't matter. It's just if you have one hide that is small, one that is big, or hides that are shaped differently. If your temps are good I wouldn't worry.
